A Tour of Constantia
Hotel pick-up: 09h30
Return to hotel: 17h00
Here is an overview of what is offered on this amazing tour:
The leafy suburb of Constantia is renowned for its opulent lifestyle and historically rich wine estates.
Some of the main estates visited on this tour include, Groot Constantia, one of the oldest and most recognised amongst locals and international tourists alike. This is the farm that the Governor of the Cape back in 1685, Simon Van Der Stel, chose as his own for the planting of grapes. He named the farm, “Constantia”, a Latin word for steadfast . Set at the foot of the iconic Table Mountain, the soil quality on this 763 hectare farm has led to numerous international awards for its impeccable wines. This estate offers so much to experience from the obligatory wine tastings and pairings with the likes of chocolate to museum, cellar and vineyard tours or just chilling, admiring the beautiful scenery.
More delectable wine tasting and purchases if required, await at the stunning, boutique winery, Beau Constantia located after a short yet scenic trip along Constantia Nek 350 metres above sea level. Awesome views across the expansive vineyards can be enjoyed whilst sipping on your chosen libation.
Lunch may be enjoyed here at the award winning, Chefs Warehouse. Bookings are essential. We are more than welcome to make all bookings on your behalf if requested to do so.
After a leisurely gastronomic experience we head off to the quaint fishing village of Hout Bay. We stop for a brief visit at Mariners Wharf. An array of souvenir shops and restaurants.
Perhaps a visit to Duiker Island also known as Seal Island might be a consideration. A safe yet short 6km sea excursion of 40 minutes takes you to the home of approximately 64000 Cape Fur seals viewed up close in their natural habitat. Photographers will enjoy not only the wildlife but also the jaw dropping coastal views.
We then head back to your chosen hotel or guesthouse after an exhilarating day of wine, sea and memorable sights.
